Take advantage of Steven Uhthoff’s experience over more than 35 years in the business. Steve doesn’t perform repairs, he provides repair consultation and oversight. With his guidance, boat owners spend less money in the long run and can be confident they have had quality work performed. Repair consulting brings peace of mind and puts someone in your corner when you don’t know the answers. Structural or major repairs for motorboats, monohulls, and catamarans should always be reviewed by a surveyor to ensure they are properly completed.
Repair EvaluationOur repair consulting service is typically completed when you have sustained damage to your vessel and need a full assessment of the extent and effects of the damage at hand. This process starts with a pre-inspection of the damage and a short report assessing what repairs are needed. Additionally, estimates from your repair services can be reviewed to help determine if appropriate estimating has been completed. A repair evaluation is often completed either working for or against an insurance company to determine if all areas of the situation have been addressed to the full extent.
With oversight service, the repair process can be both prescribed and monitored throughout the job or project at hand. We will monitor the work daily or weekly, reviewing what has been completed and updating you on the progress and steps taken by the repair technicians. We will confirm either that the repairs are being completed to your requirements and prescribed process, or that they are being fully completed to proper marine standards. Since we will help determine the repair methods to be used and will make sure those repairs are completed correctly, you can have peace of mind knowing that all will be done right. Short reports may be provided at the end of the project to include an overall assessment of the repair at your request. Repair oversight is usually utilized for large repairs or vessel refits and restorations. With an understanding of the project, we can coordinate with appropriate repairers and assure adequate repair facilities have been chosen for the project.
Repairs often have many hidden steps and material costs. Our goal is to uncover as many of these hidden items as possible before and during the repair process.
